morning, we are looking at san francisco, north 101 looks good approaching the 880 split, let's go to dave and pam. >>> many bay area schools are on high alert. channel 2 reporter allie rasmus has more on a scare yesterday that had police searching two local campuses, allie? >> reporter: well, it is a sign that most schools across the country are not taking any perceived threats lightly. here we are in pleasant hill, this elementary school and the daycare, they are all located next to each other. they were briefly locked down after somebody called and said, you are next and immediately hung up. steve lawrence sent a recorded phone message about this incident and the school's immediate response. >> as a parent of two daughters, i understand the urge to want to protect our children in these confusing times it becomes an overriding feeling to want to protect our children. >> reporter: now the police came to all three campuses to make sure there was no viable threat to the schools. the schools were in lockdown and they were safe and secure at at the time. police determined there was no

an effect on travel here at san francisco international airport. if you look behind us, you can see a number of people unloading. this is supposed to be the busiest travel day of the year with over 100,000 people through sfo. but because of the low ceiling and visibility, the traffic management program is in effect from sfo. this is inside the terminal. there are a lot of people here. the security line was packed. it could get more problematic and hectic today. starting at 7:00, this airport won't be able to use all of the runways because of that traffic management program put into effect by the faa. that could mean delays up to four hours for flights to arrive here and also delays from 30 to 60 minutes for flights departing from sfo. the spokesperson talked to us about the weather conditions. >> this is one of these winter storms that usually comes out of the south and that causes two things. it causes reduced visibility because of the rain and the clouds. but it also causes the winds to come out of a different direction than what we normally see throughout the year. >> reporter: now

de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> and to the latest on san francisco muni. it's back up and running after a transformer problem shut down everything for hours. ktvu aalex savidge live at the -- ktvu's alex savidge is live at the van ness station. what do you know? >> reporter: well, right here on market street, i did an interview with the mta spokesperson, he came out here and updated the situation. he says computers who use subway systems can expect a smooth right. all of the issues has been resolved. he tells me all of their trains are running on their regular schedules. let me show you the scene inside the van ness station. all of the trains again moving this morning. there was a shutdown, though, last night. it was about 6:00 when the entire subway system stopped because of a blown transformer at the van ness station. crews had to work throughout the night to fix the problem. and then finally at 1:30 this morning, they had everybody up and running again. with all of the subways out of service. you can imagine it was a major hassle for tens of thousands of commuters. many

serious injuries after a hit-and-run accident in san francisco. it happened last night at about 9:00 on christmas tree point in the twin peaks area. police say there were four people walking on the road and three fell down about 30 feet down a hillside. paramedics had to use back boards and ropes to carry a rescue. police found a car with fender damage a short distance away, detained the driver. there had been four people inside the car. one of them was hurt in the crash. the driver was detained, police are evaluating whether he was impaired at the time of the accident. the four pedestrians hit include a woman in her 50s with life-threatening injuries. >> all three of them went to the hospital. one has life-threatening injuries. the other two have less serious injuries. >> okay. now, this is the hit-and-run, anything about the suspect? >> right. so the suspect driver and car were found a couple of hundred yards way by our officers within minutes of the incident. >> there is no sidewalk in the area of the accident. >>> newtown, connecticut will observe a moment of silence this morning in
